Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community

School Board

Last Tuesday, the School Board held its AGM. Detailed below is my Principal's Report tabled at this meeting. I would like to acknowledge the members of the Board and thank them for the important role they play in our school. Some important decisions I have to make are made in consultation with the School Board, and as a result of matters raised at the Board level.

I would Like to Thank Heidi mother of Jasmine in Year 6, for her role within the Board for the past number of years. Heidi's passion and commitment for school improvement has really assisted me in my role and helped me as the School Principal.

I would like to congratulate and thank Annemarie, mother of Thomas, Amelia and Luke who is taking over Heidi's Vice Chairperson role. I would also like to welcome our new Board members for 2021: Liam (dad of Zara Year One), William (dad of Roman Year One), Gauri (mother of Veer Year One) and Geeta (mother of Ria Year Four).

Black Dog Institute

Thank you to the very generous people who supported our school's effort to raise funds for the The Black Dog initiative into mental health. A large number of staff along with parent Gauri, raised a staggering $5,353 for this great cause. Thank you to our staff member Belinda for initiating our school's involvement in this fundraiser.

Congratulations

Congratulations to the Dommaraju family on gaining citizenship this week. As a school community, we are so happy that this beautiful family are now proud Australian citizens. Our student Bhavin is photographed with his mum Revathi.

Remembrance Day at Sacred Heart

On Wednesday, our students stopped and took some time to reflect on how lucky we are to live in a great country and to remember the many brave men and women who have given their lives so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. Our Year Prep students Chloe and Brenton can be seen taking some time on Wednesday morning, to look at our "M" for memories Remembrance Day symbol covered in poppies.

Thank you

Last Friday a very brave Maxi (Year One student) fractured his forearm after falling from the monkey bar. As we waited for Maxi's mum Christine to arrive at school and take him for an X ray, he showed incredible resilience and courage withstanding the pain he must have been in. Today a beautiful gift arrived for the staff from Maxi's family saying thank you for looking after Maxi during his time of need. What makes this gift even more special are Maxi's words and lovely picture of Ann his teacher helping him during his time of need,

Christmas Face Masks

Our very own Tara Dennis (Better Homes and Gardens), staff member Denise is making Christmas masks. We know that masks are going to be part of our attire at least into early next year. Denise is getting into the festive spirit by making and selling masks with the proceeds going to our Parish chapter of the St Vincent De Paul Society. The masks will sell for $10. Purchasing details will be in the newsletter next week. Denise warmly invites any parents who can help with making the masks join her. If you are able to help you are asked to contact the school. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Last week our parish community said good bye to Peter when his funeral was held at Sacred Heart Church. Like Alan and Kevin earlier this year, Peter was a well know parishioner especially amongst our older students. Peter loved having a chat with our students at the monthly Healing Mass. Rest in peace Peter.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our Learning and Teacher Coordinator Belinda who this week completed her Masters in Education studies after two years of part time study. To study part time with a young family and work duties shows incredible resiliency and commitment. Enjoy your freer weekends and week nights Belinda!!

Welcome

Welcome to our three students from Australian Catholic University who are with us on teaching rounds these next four weeks. As a school, we are very proudof ourcommitment towards fostering the next generation of Catholic School teachers. Rita and Ersie are with our Year Three/Four classes and Nick is with Year Five/Six.

Parking

A reminder to all parents that we are seeing more parents doubling parking of an evening at school pick up time. Last Tuesday the council traffic officers were seen driving up and down Clifton Grove at least twice at dismissal time, looking to book cars parking illegally. Whilst we have not contacted the council to ask for patrols, we are concerned that one of our students could be hit by a car of an evening. We ask that all families do the right thing please.

Please take care

Yours Sincerely
