VCAL Horticulture

The Pandemic in Victoria has altered the  method of schooling this year with students relieved to be back in the classroom engaged in practical classes. VCAL Horticulture students  embarked on a produce growing program upon their return. This required them to germinate seeds and upsize them into bigger pots or garden beds as done in commercial nurseries. This allows the growth of the produce to be followed from seed to maturity. Students also had to construct and prepare the garden beds for the produce, as well as watering, fertilizing and weeding the beds regularly. Produce includes: Bok Choi, Spinach, Silver Beet, Broccoli, Tomatoes, Sweet Corn Peas, Rocket and Beans.
