Year 7
It has been wonderful to welcome back year level (bubble) assemblies. It was great to deliver important messages and see all of our awesome Year 7 students together in the same place again! We look forward to being able to get lots more positive messages out to the Year 7 student group before the end of the year.
Mrs Norling's 7D students have been learning about the relationship between area and volume in maths classes. Students constructed cubic metres using rods and connectors to see how large they were, then calculated that it would take 1,000,000 cubic centimetres to build a solid cubic metre. Using cubic centimetres, students worked out the best box to construct using a 20cm square of paper. It was great fun!
The second round of immunisations for Year 7 students will occur on Friday 27th November. Shire Vaccination Nurses will attend the College to administer the required second dose of the HPV vaccine.
Week 9 will be the final week of Year 7 classes before students begin transition into Year 8 on Monday 7th December. Students will begin their new 2021 timetables with Year 8 classes and meet their Year 8 teachers. They will also become familiar with the Wurrin (Year 8/9) end of the building and get to know the Year 8/9 Hub staff. It won't be all new faces however, as Miss Ryan will be moving to the 8/9 Hub along with Year 7 students.
The last two weeks of 2020 is an important time to get to know new teachers and set up classes for a smooth transition into a new academic year and a successful 2021 - something we are all striving for after such a tumultuous 2020!
Our Year 7 students have been reflecting on what this year has been like for them. Students were asked to think about about one word that they could use to describe 2020, and they came up with words like 'chaotic' and 'confusing'. Here are some other words describing what 2020 was about for our students.
