PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Mrs Jillian Rainger

Welcome to Week 3

Last week we celebrated "Book Week" in a very different way. Thank you to Mrs Fraser, our wonderful Librarian, who made the week come alive with the videos of people in our school reading their favourite books. We all might become You Tube stars!  A special thanks to our Secondary students who got into the spirit of the week and shared their talents. Our students enjoyed the time with their reading buddies as well.

We have been working towards our end of year activities for our Year 10 students. Like most things this year, they will look a little bit different but we are pleased that we will be able to continue our long-standing graduation traditions. The students will be able to attend the Copeton Dam camp and have their Graduation Mass and Dinner. These take place in early December.

As we are planning the graduation of our students, we are also welcoming our new students! This Wednesday we begin our Kinder transition for our 2021 students. We look forward to meeting these students and their families.

Around our school - the Purple Room

You may have heard your child mention the "purple room." The purple room is our Student Support room that just happens to have purple walls! Mrs McNeil is our Student Support teacher who leads a team of Educational Assistants to support our students learning. Our team includes:

Mrs Williams, Mrs Higgins, Mrs House, Miss Fleming, Mrs Morton, Mrs Brockway, Mrs Irwin, Miss McNeil, Mr White, Miss McCosker, Mr Stewart and Ms Gallagher.

Learning @ HTS

We are so excited about the number of students who have been returning their RED log sheets the last two Fridays. Thank you to families for your support in this matter. We would love to see some photos of your children reading at home that you might be happy to share with us so we could make a Facebook post. It would be great to see the wide variety of ways our students can be reading. Please send your photos to invsecretary@arm.catholic.edu.au. Look and see what difference 20 minutes of reading can make:

Safety first

Please be mindful around pick up and drop off time with your children exiting and entering your vehicle. Please ensure your child always gets in and out of the car through the Safety Door. This is the rear kerb-side door of the car. Never allow your child to get in and out of the car on the traffic side. We have had a few near misses during the busy times.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta wrote:

"Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own home. Give love to your children to a wife or husband, to a next-door neighbour."

Wishing your family a good fortnight...
