New Boarding Captains 2021 announced

This week we are pleased to announce our Boarding Captains for 2021. We formally acknowledge and welcome Annabel Hetherington and Jake Andersen to their respective Macdonald House Captain and Speirs House Captain positions. Both Annabel and Jake have provided a brief thank you in accepting this responsibility.

As Macdonald House Captain for 2021 I are extremely excited and grateful to lead our boarders through what I hope will be a great year.

I have been a boarder for 4 years now and have enjoyed every minute of my time in the Macdonald House. I have kept my two horses at the boarding house equestrian facilities since I started and have found this to be a great opportunity in bringing a bit of home with you, to your home away from home. My hobbies include equestrian and various sports like cricket, basketball, and tennis. I have a passion for agriculture and the outdoors, and wish to continue encouraging our boarding house girls to enjoy the outdoors and follow their passions.

Annabel Hetherington.

As the 2021 Speirs House Captain I am very grateful for being chosen to represent the boys’ house family. I have been boarding at the Hamilton and Alexandra College for almost two years now and have enjoyed every moment spent at the boarding house. Before Hamilton, I attended Bordertown High School and Mundulla Primary School. I enjoy all the different sports on offer at College, such as hockey, clay target shooting, cricket, tennis, and more. I am very excited to take on the role of Boarding Captain in 2021, and cannot wait to see what the year has in store for us and the boys.

Walking to Mt Abrupt

On Sunday, all of the Year 7-11 boarders went for trip to Dunkeld, to climb Mt Abrupt. It took us just under an hour to conquer the climb upwards, and around twenty minutes for the steep descent downwards. On the climb we experienced very windy conditions; it was a challenging climb, with many steep surfaces accomplished. There were very scenic views from the top, with water covering most of the paddocks.

On the way back, we stopped in at Dunkeld for an ice-cream and a bite to eat.

I would just like to thank Mr Monk & Mr Palmer for organising and making this trip happen. We’re all looking forward to another trip out and about next weekend to Cape Bridgewater for a game of beach cricket and fish and chips!
