Staff Interview

Elli Sumner Prep teacher

Have you any exciting news that you would like to share?

Yes I do! After a year of planning and many Covid related setbacks, I am FINALLY getting married! We have decided to have a small intimate wedding on the 21 November and a dinner afterwards to celebrate with our families.

We will celebrate with all our friends and extended family in the future when we are able to have the celebration we want.

How long have you worked at BNPS-

I have been a teacher here at BNPS for 3 years now, and the year before I got my job here I completed my final placement for my degree here too.

I love working here and all the staff are so friendly and supportive which really makes coming to work easy!

Who inspires you-

It’s not really a who… but I wish everyone could live life the way dogs do! They are always so full of love and happiness. There is nothing better than coming home and seeing the tail wagging and excitement  of a dog waiting to give you all the kisses and cuddles they missed during the day.

What is your favourite thing to do on the weekends?

On weekends, I love taking my dog Louie for walks to be park or beach, spending time with friends and family and relaxing at home reading or watching Netflix.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

If I could live anywhere in the world… I think I would still choose to live where I do now. I love that we have everything so close to us and so many options of things to do! In one weekend you could go to the beach, wineries, the theatre and to beautiful restaurants for dinner. I think we are very lucky here in Melbourne!

What makes you happy?

There are so many things that make me happy, but I think being around other people that are happy and enjoying life is the best pick me up when you are feeling a bit down!

What makes you angry?

Not much makes me angry… but when someone eats the last bit of my chocolate and doesn’t tell me… that is not ok!

What would you like to say to your class?

I would love to tell them how proud I am of them for how resilient and adaptive they have been this year! For their first year at school – and what a year it has been! – they have taken everything in their strides and settled in so well being back at school this term. They are a bunch of beautiful, caring kiddies and I am so excited to be part of their schooling adventure!
