Principal's Report

EARLY DEPARTURES AND LATE ARRIVALS

As with all aspects of our systems and operations, we are always considering how we can further strengthen them to improve the outcomes for students. As such, we have recently reviewed our late arrival and early departure procedures and have implemented the following changes.

Late arrivals

To support our students having a smooth and positive start to their school day, we encourage all students to be arriving at school between 8:30-8:35am. This allows for them to enter the learning community when the doors open at 8:35am and prepare for their day in a calm and settled manner. We appreciate that some mornings are a little hectic and this is not always possible, but we want late arrivals to not be the norm for our students because of the impact this has upon their learning. I know personally how unsettled and anxious I can be when I arrive at a meeting late and have to enter the space not knowing exactly what is happening and what is required of me. I am sure we can all relate to this feeling. If your child is late, we ask that you please escort them into the administration building and sign them in through Compass. Having a parent sign them is a legal requirement and is required to ensure the late arrival is explained.

Early departures

Where possible, we encourage all of our families to reduce the number of occasions in which you need to pick your child up early from school. This ensures that we maximise their learning time. We are also aiming to reduce the number of announcements we are needing to make in the afternoons as this requires all staff and students to stop what they are doing. Moving forward, where you need to pick your child up early from school, we ask that you come into reception to sign your child out. The administration staff will issue you with an ‘Early Departure Slip’. We then ask that you walk up to your child’s learning community, pass the early departure slip to the classroom teacher and collect your child and their bag.

We thank you for your support as we implement these changes to our processes.

THANK YOU BUNNINGS!

At the end of last year, some of our students expressed a strong interest in starting up a gardening club. This will be run by our Education Support Staff team during Recess Breaks.

This week the students have come up with a list of the different things they would like to learn about in the garden and set themselves some targets for the end of the year, including building a fairy garden at the school.

We would like to say a big thank you to Louisa from Bunnings for their donations to get this club up and going! We were very lucky to receive some gardening gloves, tools, brooms and aprons.

WORKING BEE

We are delighted to invite you and your family to join us on Saturday 4th of March for our very important Working Bee in line with Clean up Australia Day. This is an amazing opportunity to contribute to the overall cleanliness of our community and improve our local environment. With your help, we can make a difference! We look forward to your family joining us. Please save the date!

HANDYMAN

The school is actively searching for a qualified handyman to help us build a security cupboard in the gym. We are looking for a capable and experienced professional who is willing to work with the school to make this task a reality. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact the school for further details. We thank you for your support!
