Principal's Message

Welcome to 2023

Welcome to the new school year! Everyone has had a terrific start. As this is also my first week at Bolinda Primary School, I have been so overwhelmed by the support from the school community. My days on yard duty have been filled with fun chats and

student-made pies. There is a beautiful sense of community overflowing at Bolinda and I am really looking forward to getting to know you further at upcoming events.

I've also been lucky to have spent some time in the classrooms where I have seen a lot of deep learning going on already, especially in STEM, where the children in P/1 were conducting an experiment that showed them how germs could spread.

Hats

During the months of high UV, we wish to remind you that all students are required to wear a wide-brimmed hat. This means Term 1 and Term 4. Peak caps are not suitable. Children without hats will be required to play under covered areas.

Communication

Communication is an extremely important factor between home and school. Along with uEducateUs, we will be circulating a fortnightly newsletter online via iNewsletter.

School Assemblies

School assemblies will be held each fortnight commencing 17th February, and I invite parents, carers, and guardians to join us for these events.

Home Chats

Bolinda Primary School will be holding Home Chats on Wednesday 15th, Thursday 16th & Thursday 23rd of February. This is an opportunity for parents, carers, and guardians to have a 10-minute chat about their child/ren with their classroom teacher. As we've only just started the term, it is very difficult to give any judgment about where your child is working academically, and holding these meetings gives a chance for you to discuss any important information with your child's teacher to help them plan for the year ahead. These Home Chats will be available to book through uEducateUs from next Monday 6th February.

Family Welcome BBQ

We would like to invite all of our families to our Bolinda Primary School Family Welcome BBQ, to be held on Thursday 2nd March. More information will be published on uEducateUs soon regarding the evening so please be sure to pop the date in your diary.

Building Works

Over the holidays we were fortunate enough to have our pergola installed at the front of the school as part of the Shade Sail initiative. It will give the children a terrific place to keep out of the sun. Our deck was also replaced with fire-retardant material as part of a Bushfire At-Risk Register (BARR) initiative. Be sure to come and have a look!

School Council

At the beginning of each year, we send out information and requests for nominations for School Council membership. Being a parent on School Council is a fantastic way to get an insight into the inner workings of the school, and gives us valuable insight and thoughts from our parent community. Meetings are held twice a term in the evenings. This year we have 1 parent position available, however, there is the opportunity to join and take up a community member position. Nominations can be made for other parents or for yourself. Forms for both can be found below or collected from the office, and are due back by Friday 3rd March. If you would like a hard copy nomination form sent home with your child, please call or email and we can arrange this for you. If there are more nominations than positions, a ballot will be held prior to our AGM.
