Dear students, parents and school staff,
We are pleased to introduce the leadership team for the Greater Shepparton College (interim
name). Our team of principals will be integral to the development of the new school to ensure a
smooth transition for all as we head into 2020.
The team will bring passion and leadership experience to their roles. They have strong local
knowledge and are committed to providing high-quality educational outcomes for every young person in Greater Shepparton. Led by Executive Principal Genevieve Simson, the team is:
• John Sciacca (Principal, McGuire Campus): Mr Sciacca has been principal of Nathalia
Secondary College for nine years, with previous experience teaching in Greater Shepparton
secondary schools. His focus is on improving student pathways through enhanced literacy
and numeracy skills, and he has strong community engagement skills.
• Stephen Bolton (Principal, Mooroopna Campus): Mr Bolton is the current principal of
Mooroopna Secondary College. He will be heavily involved in implementing a specialist
curriculum for Year 9 students next year, with a focus on inquiry-based and experiential
learning, student resilience, sense of community, and career planning.
• Ken Murray (Principal, Wanganui Park Campus): Mr Murray is the current principal of
Wanganui Park Secondary College. He will bring leadership skills and knowledge of the
Greater Shepparton community to play a key role in the development of the new school’s
student health and wellbeing approach.
• Megan Michalaidis (Assistant Principal, Teaching and Learning). Ms Michalaidis is the current assistant principal at McGuire College. She will bring her expertise in curriculum and instructional design, and will work across the three campuses to lead and shape the new school’s teaching and learning strategy. Our team looks forward to working with you to ensure a smooth and successful transition process in which students and staff are well supported.

Free Transport For Shepparton Secondary Students As Plan Takes Shape

The Andrews Labor Government’s plan to ensure young people in Shepparton have more educational opportunities, choice and support is fast becoming a reality.
Minister for Education James Merlino today visited Wanganui Park Secondary College to unveil the leadership team for the new Greater Shepparton College (interim name), and to announce free travel assistance for students attending the College until the college opens on a single campus.
Free travel during the transition period will be available to students that currently use the School Bus Program and those new to the program.
In addition, government secondary school students travelling on public transport to the College will have ticket costs fully reimbursed through the Conveyance Allowance Program until the single campus opens. Free travel will help make the transition to the exciting new secondary school as easy as possible for students and families.
Mr Merlino also announced the new leadership team for Greater Shepparton College (interim name). The leadership team, who combine extensive educational experience and local knowledge with a commitment to growing the learning environment for every child in the Shepparton area, are:
The leadership team will be led by Executive Principal Genevieve Simson, who previously taught at Mooroopna Secondary College and McGuire College.
The Labor Government has committed $21.5 million to make the long-term Shepparton Education Plan – including the new Greater Shepparton College (interim name) – a reality, to ensure every student in the region gets the opportunity for a great education at a great local school.
