Dr Chris Plakiotis

We would like to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of Dr Chris Plakiotis, who was a student of Oakleigh Grammar in the 1990’s and is still an active member of the Oakleigh Parish.

 

After completing his undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree at Monash University, Dr Chris Plakiotis undertook specialist training in Psychiatry through Monash Health.

 

 In addition to attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, he has completed advanced training in Adult Psychiatry and Psychiatry of Old Age, as well as completing a Master of Psychological Medicine degree through Monash University. 

 

In parallel to his clinical training and work, Chris has worked as a Research Fellow for Monash University, completing a Master’s degree in Clinical Research and submitting a Doctor of Medicine thesis whilst in this position. He also has research interests in brain stimulation therapies and depression.

 

As well as being an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, Chris is a practicing Consultant in Adult and Old Age Psychiatry. 

He is currently the Acting Clinical Head of the Aged Persons Mental Health Service at Monash Health. 

 

Chris has recently attained Associate Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and is undertaking ongoing study towards a Master’s degree in Medical Leadership.
