Vocational Education and Training (VET) Awards

Wednesday 16 October was VET awards night. This is a fantastic opportunity to recognise students who have chosen to broaden their study choices and study a subject outside of the regular curriculum. To be recognised at the VET awards is a great honour because you are competing with students from Secondary Schools right across the Knox and Outer Eastern region.

All students were exemplary ambassadors for our school, big congratulations.

Whats On In Careers

Busy time in the careers area…. Managing Individual Pathways (MIPS) careers interviews completed for senior school and subject selection which includes VET subjects for students going in to year 11. Orientation day for all VET subject will be Wednesday 21 November unless otherwise advised, this is an opportunity for students to meet trainers and gain further understanding of what they will be learning and the expectation and requirements. It is also an opportunity to practice travel plans.

Invoices for materials will be sent home in the first week of November and as stated in the enrollment sign up information, these invoices need to be paid in full by Friday 7 December. These must be paid to secure your students place in their selected VET course.

Excursions

There are a few Careers excursions coming up for Year 10 and 11 students:

  • Year 11 students to Australian Catholic University and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), City campus, this excursion is about exploring the Institutes and what they have to offer but also about giving students an opportunity to experience travelling independently so they are aware of what is involved in making their way to different Tertiary Institutes which must be a consideration when selecting courses and providers for 2020.
  • Year 10 Students November to Box Hill Institute.

Lots of work goes into planning these excursions. They are designed to give students opportunities that expose them to different environments and experiences. So they can make more informed choices about what pathways they may be interested in exploring in the future. Returning permission form by due dates is required so we can confirm numbers with third parties and students get maximum benefit in a safe and timely manner. Please support your child by returning these before on on the due date.

If you have any question about careers related excursion please contact me 97654100 or careers@scoresbysc.vic.edu.au.
