Junior School

Final Term

The Junior School welcomes back our students for our final term in 2018. We hope you all had a relaxing break and are refreshed and ready for an exciting term.

The start of this term has seen a number of new students enrolled at Scoresby across Years 7- 9. It has been fantastic to see our students welcome them to our school and take pride in ensuring an easy transition for them.

We would like to offer our congratulations to Year 7 student Hollie Johnston. Hollie has been accepted into the Under 14 Outer Eastern Eagles team for Victoria Cricket. We also wish Year 7 student Brooke Michaliades good luck for her upcoming Hip Hop Dance Competition (House of Champions) in Brisbane.

Our Respectful Relationships Program will continue this term with our Year 8 and Year 9 students undergoing the final two sessions. These will take place on Wednesday 24 October and Wednesday 28 November. In addition to the classes students will be provided with the opportunity to participate in an ‘obstacle course’ and’ slam poetry’.

On behalf of the Junior School we would also like to wish our  VCE students all the very best for their upcoming exams. It is important for Junior students to maintain appropriate behaviour when in the yard / moving between classes especially during this period.

Year 9 students will be completing exams for both English and Maths taking place on Wednesday 14 November and Thursday 15 November respectively. These two exams will provide students with the opportunity to develop skills in sitting for exams in preparation for senior year levels.

Students are reminded that there is learning to be done and expectations remain with work effort, homework and assignment completion as we head towards the end of the year. To provide students with extra assistance, Homework Club will continue to take place in the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 pm- 4 pm.

International Student Life

A month in the life of an International Student

After a month studying in Scoresby Secondary College, I have many friends.  Classmates have different kinds of personality.

There are many happy days studying in the school.  I still remember when I first came to the school.  I went in the wrong classes, but a girl was very friendly and told me something, we chatted happily.  After a few weeks I met my friends – Sanaz, Annie , Marie and also Celina.  They are super nice and friendly.  They helped me know about the school.  Marie had a speech and we helped her.  I am so happy that we did it so successfully.  I drew trees on the balloons.  That’s very exciting experience I’ve ever had.  I was so proud that I saw Marie stand there and give students a speech.

My friend Annie is a pretty girl (actually they are all pretty girls).  One time she was sad, Celina and I tried to help her so we drew something to let her be happy and write on it. She smiled and hugged me.  Sanaz was a quiet girl and I thought she was eight years old at the first time that I saw her.  She did things seriously and loves drawing.  And she draws well.  I had IT lessons  couple of times.  It’s pretty boring because I am not interested in that!  But it’s still funny.

My favourite lesson is Maths.  And I love the Maths teacher!  Because he’s patient and interesting (not like Maths teacher in China, pretty mean).  His classes were funny and exciting and I learn more.  I think the English classes are interesting.  And the teacher (Mr Cronin) is really good.  He is kind and friendly.  And he’s very quiet!
