MOTOCROSS

Competition Day
On Friday 29 April, Lilydale High school had 14 students represent in an Interschool Motocross competition. The competition was held in Warrnambool, three and half hours' drive for most participants, showing the drive (or ride) and determination of our students to compete in an event that they are passionate about.
The day consisted of riding around a 3.8km track through undulating hills. The day’s weather was wet and dreary, which led to a lot of mud and dirt being lathered over the riders.
Our school was competitive in all races in which they competed. Overall, on the day we finished with the most medals, including a big win in the relay.
Our students represented themselves in a manner that deserves maximum credit. All representatives appreciated the efforts of Cobden Technical School in the creation of such an impressive and well organised event.

Interschool MX
With the school not competing in this style of event prior to Friday 29 April, made this a remarkable piece of history. It's been nothing but a dream for Lilydale High students since day 1 at the school to have such competitions as 'Interschool MX'.
We had a total of 14 riders in our team. The event was located in the township of Panmure, approximately 20 minutes before Warrnambool.
We as a school didn't know what to expect as we hadn't run in these events before and we really had no idea on how we would go in terms of the competition we where facing. This was confirmed once all of the entries had arrived at the track and signed in and after scrutineering had completed, we then knew that 100 + riders were about to challenge us for the win.
As our school being able to bring a team of 14 to the event of which, have only just ridden on farm paddocks and others having National Accreditation with titles and podiums, we as a school knew that the event would run smoothly for us but perhaps not as well as we expected.
With the day being a huge success, all the schools attended rode extremely well, challenging to the last blip of the throttle. It came down the last race of the day. The relay race had to include a variety of farm bike's, 85's, 125's, 250's and 450'. Our school was able to fill a relay team of our wide variety of machines we had entered in our races. This really gave us the opportunity to build our "A Team".
This event could not be held without the ongoing support of Lilydale High teachers, Mr Pennycook and Mr Price. This event would not be successful for our team of riders if they didn't put in all of the ground work to run this event.
Also a shout out to the sponsors who helped reduce the cost of the event. The property owner, Mr Sam Bennett for supplying a grass track of epic proportions and all of the other schools for the competition and support though out the event.
