INTERSCHOOL SHOOTING COMPETITION BAINSDALE

Shooting Competition
Monday 9 May
Students from Lilydale High School last week were invited to attend an 'Interschool Shooting Competition' at Bainsdale.
A small group travelled up on the weekend and camped at the grounds on Saturday night and competed at a Sunday competition in preparation for the school event on the Monday. These students were joined by a number of other students who travelled up with parents and Mr Box on the Monday morning. Their level of commitment is highlighted by the fact that they had to wake in the early hours, to leave Lilydale at about 5:00 am to make the long journey in the morning to the event.
Although only Bonnie Rowland received a placing on the day, the remaining students all shot very well and we only missed out on other placings, both individual and teams events by a small margin.
I am sure that everyone had a great time and it was pleasing to see some students achieve personal bests on the day.
We all look forward to competing at the event next year.
Student Success
Jack Clerke
Another very pleasing result was that of Year 12 student Jack Clerke who competed in a 2 day national event at Melbourne Gun Club on the weekend. This was the final event in a series sponsored by Perazzi in Italy.
Jack beat some of the best athletes in the county and was the eventual winner of the Junior event. This fine result meant that he gained a place on the Australian team to travel to Morocco later in the year. It is quite an achievement to be part of the 8 person squad to compete at this international event.
Jack Wallace
I would also like to take the opportunity to congratulate Jack Wallace (Year 12, 2015) on being awarded ongoing sponsorship from the Olympic committee in recognition of his recent fine performances overseas.
