PASE

Year 9 Girls PE

For the first lesson of a four-week Dance unit, Miss Perryman and student teacher Miss Ellard’s class for Year 9 Girls PE, learnt the progressive steps to the dance ‘Stayin’ Alive’ in small groups. By the end of the lesson the class were able to perform it as a whole group and it looked fantastic!

In the coming weeks the class will be involved in Just Dance, Zumba and more!

Year 10

Fitness for Me

Miss Harmes’ 'Fitness for Me' classes have been visiting Jetts Gym in Lilydale to undertake a 4-week training program as part of their Common Assessment Task.

Students have applied their knowledge of training methods and principles to design a personalised program, with many students aiming to enhance cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance or muscular strength.

Since starting the program, students have noticed improvements in their fitness, as well as developed their skills in self-directed learning, time management and evaluating progress.

Education Week

PASE Challenge

All students were invited to take part in the PASE Challenge for Education Week 2016.

The theme for this year is ‘Technology; Create your future’ and the challenge focused on building the students’ skills using a range of technologies, whilst developing their knowledge of Health and Physical Education-based topics.

The challenge required students to use a QR code reader to decipher a series of questions and challenges, answer each of the questions by creating a Google Doc, then submitting their entry through sharing of this link.

All students who entered the competition have been put in the draw to win a $50 Rebel Sport voucher, with the winning entry being announced during Week 7.

Year 10

Sport Coaching

Mr Neumann’s Year 10 Sports Coaching class have been putting their skills into practice, teaching PE lessons to a Year 7 group.

A great opportunity for both the Year 10 students to build their capacity as coaches, and the Year 7 group to experience some peer teaching.

Unit 3 VCE PE

On Monday 9 May we had Luke from METS Performance Sports come out to the school to perform a VO2 Max test for the Year 12 PE students to watch.

Adam Johnson of Year 12 performed the test. He rode on a bike while hooked up to a respirator to measure the amount of oxygen he was breathing in and carbon dioxide out. The test got gradually harder until Adam was no longer able to pedal anymore. From the test, we were able to measure Adam’s VO2 maximum, which is a direct measure of his aerobic capacity.

The test was a great opportunity for the Year 12 students to see how these tests are performed and related very closely to many of the topics covered in Unit 3 and 4 PE.
