Japanese Visitors

Thank you very much to everyone who welcomed students from Japan . They arrived at Shepparton High School on Sunday 2nd August and left for Melbourne on Monday 10th August.

It was such a short stay, but they went to many tourist attractions around Shepparton to experience various aspects of the Australian culture and often used English to communicate.

I must say a big thank you to all the families who hosted a Japanese student at home and all the Shepparton High students and staff who looked after Japanese students and teachers at school. They won’t forget your kindness and hospitality.

I would also like to give very special thanks to the following students and staff on their behalf:

*Students in Year 9 Japanese who had fun learning Japanese culture through them,

*Students in Year 7B who helped them to learn how to play Downball,

*Dungala Warriors who performed a magnificent Indigenous dance for them

*Ms Lansdown who held a special cooking class with them

*Mr Howells who had a special music class with them

*Kayleen and Mandy who prepared Aussie lunch for them every day

*Mr Fraser who hosted Mr Manabu Okumura, a teacher from Japan and Ms Bassani who hosted Ms Emiko Omura, also a teacher from Japan.

I am sending students from Shepp High to Japan next year, so have a think about it. Let’s start to save money and learn more Japanese to talk to them in Japan. That will be fun!
