“Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation”.

Mark 16:15

Dearest Marian Community,

Welcome back to Semester 2 for 2021!

Semester 1 proved to be very successful with our College coming together and demonstrating the Marian spirit that brings our College spirit to life. Semester 2 will be filled with many opportunities to demonstrate our reverence for life. This is particularly important now more than ever, during these testing times.

Term 3 will see the return of Pyramids for Puppies as a College-wide mission project. As a College community, it is important that we acknowledge and support all of God’s creations. As people of faith, we need not to look further than Church authority to see that we are called to protect all of God's creation. As it states in the Catechism of the Catholic Church “Animals are God's creatures. He surrounds them with his providential care. By their mere existence they bless him and give him glory. Thus men owe them kindness. We should recall the gentleness with which saints like St. Francis of Assisi or St. Philip Neri treated animals” (2416). It is with the utmost importance that we demonstrate generosity and compassion for all we share this world with.

Our Year 9 and 10 Community Action Team members will be participating in a Stewardship activity next week in supporting our local community in planting trees to ensure the conservation of our environment. As we see in our College Vision and Mission, stewardship is an integral element that assists us in valuing creation with a sense of wonder and awe, acting with gratitude and promoting sustainable resources. We have also seen Pope Francis state, “As stewards of God's creation, we are called to make the earth a beautiful garden for the human family. When we destroy our forests, ravage our soil and pollute our seas, we betray that noble calling." I would like to thank Mrs Munro for her work around organising such a rewarding opportunity for our students.

During these testing times, it is important that we all make a commitment to each other and support one another to ensure we get through this difficult time together. In the same way we offer the sign of peace at Mass, let us demonstrate our unity as a community by honouring and nurturing the wellbeing of humanity through love and mercy.

Dear God, thank You for the scriptures. Romans 15:4-5 tells us everything that was written in the Bible was written to teach us so that through endurance and the encouragement it brings, we might have hope. Help me to stay the course, learning about You and basking in hope. Amen.

Yours in Faith

Mr Abdala
