Welcome back to Term 2. The Parent Interview Day at the end of last term went quite smoothly and it was great to see parents attend and discuss their son/daughter's progress at the College. If parents/guardians who were not able to attend and have queries in regards to their child’s interim report and progress, please do not hesitate to contact their respective teachers in regards to this. Formal semester reports will be provided at the end of this term.

Open Day 25th May

Preparation for Open Day this year is restricted to Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th May 2019. Students will be rostered to sections around the College for these two days and Open Day itself. Any requests for student absences during these preparation days and on the actual Open Day are to be in writing and will only be authorised by the Principal.

Upcoming Student Assessment Schedules

The next few weeks are extremely important in each student’s educational program with the following major assessments highlighted from the College Calendar:

  • Year 12 Externally Set Tasks (EST’s) – week 2, 3 & 4
  • Year 12 ATAR Exams – week 4 & 5
  • Year 11 ATAR Exams – week 8

Students are reminded that they are required to be present for these assessments and the College’s Assessment Policy applies for ALL of these scheduled assessments.

Homework Expectations

The following are recommendations for the minimum amount of homework and study students should be undertaking to complete the requirements of their course:

  • Year 10 – 5 hours Monday to Thursday, plus on weekends as required
  • Year 11 & 12 General – 5 hours Monday to Thursday, plus on weekends as required
  • Year 11 & 12 ATAR – 8 hours Monday to Thursday, 2-3 hours on weekends, plus extra as required at exam time.

Students need to extend and push themselves and at times, commit and make sacrifices to give themselves the greatest opportunity of achieving to their fullest potential and to reap the benefits of hard work. The College asks for the assistance and support from parents/guardians to regularly check/question their child about what homework and study they may have.

I look forward to seeing you at Open Day.
