PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

OFFICIAL OPENING

On February 7 we held our official school opening with special guests Education Minister James Merlino and Local MP Ros Spence. It was fantastic to see our families at assembly to celebrate with us. Special thanks to our students, Sashwat, Millie, Taylan and D'Lyla, who welcomed our special guests, directed them to the gym and cut our opening ceremony ribbon!

SCHOOL CAPTAINS

Our inaugural School Captains are Shannon Kaur and D'Lyla Milford! We congratulate them on their outstanding applications and interviews.

We look forward to working with Shannon and D'Lyla to strengthen our school culture and enhance student voice and agency at Aitken Hill.

Well done to all students who applied, we highly recommend you applying for our Student Representative Council next term.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT UPDATE

Thank you for your support and understanding with the traffic management for our school.

Below is an update based on information received from our local council:

  • 40 zone now in place between 8 - 9:30am and 2:30pm - 4pm
  • 5 minute morning parking zones and 15 minute afternoon parking zones will be installed by the beginning of Term 2
  • crossing in between the bus stop and school entrance will be in place by the beginning of Term 2
  • the council's Local Laws Team will conduct a survey of crossing use prior to crossing supervisors starting. We are unaware of when they will begin or be completed.
  • future school traffic is expected to use the Council’s sporting precinct car park to the south, construction is due to start later this year.

In the interests of pedestrian safety, please use the footpath to enter the school rather than walking through the car park. Please refrain from parking on the grass as this is illegal and may result in a council penalty notice. Can we also remind families not to park in or drive into staff car parks.

We thank you for your understanding and for ensuring our students are safe.

COMMUNITY BREAKFAST

Our first community breakfast was held on Thursday 14 March. This was a great opportunity for our families and staff to interact together and enjoy a toasted cheese sandwich. This week parents and staff enjoyed a coffee from cafe2U. A big thank you to the Salvation Army team for volunteering their time to cook toasted sandwiches for everyone!

Please come along each Thursday morning from 8:15am to be part of this special part of our school community.
