In this 5th issue of our International In the Know (IITK), you will discover some of the creative opportunities available for students to experience at Kilvington. You will hear about our performing arts events such as the Annual Concert and the musical production of Frozen JR.

Another central creative component of our curriculum revolves around writing and the development of literacy skills. Each year, the School celebrates writing by holding the Kilvington Writers Festival. All students, including students for whom English is an additional language, can participate in this festival. Inspiring samples of their writing are included in this issue.

This issue will also highlight the ways in which cultural diversity is celebrated at School. Cultural days are opportunities for our students to deepen their cultural understanding of the language they study and develop intercultural capabilities. An article about the Year 8 Cultural Day will give you an insight into what a cultural day entails here at Kilvington.

The Junior Bastille Day is another exciting yearly event in the Junior School where students dress up and participate in many French activities to celebrate France’s national day. This event is also a fun and engaging way for students to continue to learn about the French language, which is taught at all levels of the Junior School by our talented French teacher, Madame Mullins, who is profiled on the 'French Teacher Profile' page.

Madame Mullins is part of a team of Languages Staff who are highly committed to their program. You will read about some recent staff achievements such as teacher's sharing their practice with other schools as part of the National Conference for French Teachers.

Finally, we would like to acknowledge how important it has been to meet in person the key staff from our partners schools, especially as our students prepare for their 2023 individual tours to Japan and France.

We would like to wish all our dedicated partners, parents and students a happy festive season!
