Textiles

Year 10 Textiles

Year 10’s and 11’s have completed their garments for the year, and have all made remarkable headway in their sewing skills. The garments hanging around the school are a collection of Year 10 corsets and hoodies, as well as Year 11 Unit: Collaborative Design with theme – ‘70’s Fashion’.

All students, regardless of year level, adapted a pattern or incorporated a textile embellishment to extend their knowledge and skills of Textile complex processes.

All students should be proud of what they have achieved.

Kinder Project

Year 10 Textile students have begun one final project before they start preparing for their exams. They have been asked to design and create a logo that kinder students will have placed on their end of year concert T-shirt. Year 10 students met with the kinder kids to carefully design a logo that met with the theme – superheroes and book characters.

There was a definite joy in the room with the kinder kids excited by their visitors, even asking them to stay longer to play. Textile students have also enjoyed this task, taking a great deal of care to ensure the perfect design is created. We look forward to seeing the final product.

7B Textiles – Bunting Flags

The year 7 textiles students have been working hard throughout the semester learning how to sew using a sewing machine. Each student completed a design task in which they created a design to either paint, draw or print and iron onto their sewn banner flag. Students used their creativity to come up with a variety of different ideas. Their sewing skills are improving each lesson and each student has been able to thread a sewing machine, sew straight and zig zag stiches and create a tube to hold the dowl. Well done year 7B, they look fantastic! ~ Miss McKinna
