Remembrance Day Poems

Gun shots go in the whistling wind

People screaming, soldiers falling

Footsteps go,

Soldiers buried,

A poppy grows.

Charlotte - 3M

Gunshots fire

People are tired

Screaming “Medic”

He or she runs off,

But doesn’t have their kit,

I am standing still on their grave

Thinking of those who were very brave.

I kneel down as a poppy appears to comfort me.

Remember you, I do.

This is because, on Flanders Field, it was her whose life was gone, not just his.

Evan - 3M

Flanders Fields lay here today,

As bright colours of poppies spray.

We still hear echoes of gunshots,

We pray.

Thoughts of the soldiers' cries at night,

Wanting to go back home to the light.

Now some are safe and sound,

Others we think of as they lay in the ground.

Isabelle - 3M

Poppies swaying, side by side,

I remember my friend, cry by cry,

I will remember him for all my life,

As poppies flow, I will say,

I will remember them, day by day.

Lucinda - 3M

Shots fired,

People screaming,

Man down,

Pow pow,

Bang bang,

When it ended,

A poppy grew,

With a note,

That said,

I will remember you.

Ryland - 3M

Poppies sway,

Gunshots away

We remember, we remember.

Side by side,

Soldiers hide,

We remember, we remember.

Khaleesi - 3M

People screaming,

Soldiers booming,

Bang, bang,

Crash, crash,

Poppies come, no one comes back,

Memories live in Flanders Field,

Memories land on their graves,

May the sun shine in your heart.

We remember the 11th day of the 11th month.

Jess - 3M

The wind whistling,

The sun shining,

The poppies flowing side to side as you hear gunshots and footsteps.

After the war, a little poppy landed on one of the soldier’s hats.

As he picked up the hat, he said, I will remember my friend who never gave up.

After these words,

All of the footsteps were gone,

And the whistling wind said,

I will remember.

Remy - 3M

As the poppies blow through the wind,

The power of soldiers fly through the sky,

Up the mountains, and into your home,

Then into your heart, the soldier's blood warms your heart

As you hear, the soldiers whisper in your ear,

Will you remember me?

I will remember you.

A tear started to form, as I felt warm.

The poppy lady offered me a poppy,

I took it and said in my head,

“Buy a poppy at the store,

And remember the soldiers who fought in the war”
