University - Child Care
On Wednesday 17th August students from Year 9 Child Studies, Year 11 and 12 Exploring Early Childhood and students interested in a career in childcare attended an excursion at the University of Wollongong.
Students walked around the university's Wollongong campus before having lunch, giving them an opportunity to experience university life and see what the campus has to offer. They then attended the Early Start Discovery Space which is the world's only Children’s museum located on a University campus.
The program involved a talk from a university lecturer on the benefits of play and the impact this has on child development. Students were then given the opportunity to explore the museum and the activities on offer. It was a day full of learning through play with everyone having loads of fun.
“It was fun to feel like we could play and not feel “too old” for it, and also great just being in a university environment”- Layal Abbas, Year 12.
