From the Principal

Week 2 Term 3 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

Tomorrow we are celebrating two major events.  Firstly the children in Prep will be celebrating 100 days of school, ( where did that time go!!!!!)  Mrs Laura Jefferys has some wonderful activities prepared for all the Prep children. I know Laura will share the pics on Instagram for all parents to enjoy.

Tomorrow we  also celebrate Bastille day  as part of our French program.  The children are encouraged to wear colours of the French flag  or a French character.   The canteen have organised a French themed lunch for those ordering a lunch order.

Father/Child Camp.

The Father/child camp is once again happening this year after a 2 year absence due to COVID19.

For those who are unaware the Father/Child camp is an event organised by some of the  parents of St Bede's  for the students who attend St Bede's, but it is not a St Bede's school organised advent. The parents take the initiative themselves to organise the  weekend of activities. From all accounts there is a lot of great activities!!!  The camp is also not a fundraising event for the school and is solely for the benefit of the children who are attending and their father's.

COVID19

As mentioned earlier this week St Bede's staff ( no children so far)  are beginning to be affected by the current wave of COVID19.  Every effort will be made to ensure classes proceed as normal. Larissa Boyhan does an amazing job of organising CRT's( casual relief teachers) but there is a shortage at the moment.   I thank you for your understanding with this matter.

Sacrament of Confirmation

As part of their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in October  the candidates made their commitment at one of the masses over the weekend.  Confirmation  this year will take place on Wednesday 5th October and Thursday 6th of October.  These are the dates given to us by the Bishop of the region who is responsible for all confirmations in the eastern region. The school and the parish do not get a say in these dates

On this coming Tuesday evening, parents and candidates are required to attend the faith evening commencing at 7.00pm in the Jarrow room.  The duration of the evening is expected to be approximately an hour and a half.

Lunchtime clubs

St Bede's offers our students many "clubs"  the children can attend at lunchtime. These clubs range from Art club to Car club to Dance club. On Tuesday we reintroduced Minecraft club for our Yr 5/6 students and in the coming week we intend to offer this to our Yr 3/4 students.  The version of Minecraft that the children use is an educational version.

Professional learning days

We received correspondence form MACS (catholic education) stating that schools can take 2 days professional learning for staff this term due to the disruptions over the past two years.

Our first Professional learning day is scheduled for the 12th August ( already in the calendar- RE focus).  The second professional learning day will now be on the 5th September ( behaviour management focus). Thank you for your understanding.

Have a great week

Brian
