'You too must stand ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect'

Luke 12:32-48

The Watchful Servants

Last week we heard about the Rich Fool. This weekend's Scripture echoes a likeness to this in the form of the Watchful Servant and how even today, we await the coming of the Son of Man at a time and place we do not expect.

The context of the master and his servants ignites the importance of readiness and responsibility regarding one's role in life and the potential of role reversal. Our role to fulfill the mission of Jesus by the way we treat others, ensuring wealth is shared and the poor taken care of is highlighted so that no-one is left in need.

In another papal encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis writes about the 'common good' and how wealth should be shared as it is not only ours but for the poor as well. As the first educators of children, parents hold a crucial role in teaching and sharing this importance and as educators in a school context, we try to elicit various authentic ways to promote Catholic Social Teaching and be mindful and watchful in the way we speak and act. The knock at the door can happen at any time.

Feast of the Assumption

We will be celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on Friday 12th August at 9:30am in the School Hall. Please come along and join us as a whole school community.

Prayers in Pyjamas

Prayer is a crucial part of our faith journey and tradition. This year, we finally have the opportunity to share in prayer through a formal event called Prayers in Pyjamas which will be held for the Foundation students.

This event will be held in the school hall on Thursday 18th August from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. The Foundation students are asked to come along in their pyjamas and participate with their parents and carers. It is a chance for students and their families to share in how we unpack Scripture and contribute to prayer in a relaxed and communal space.

We would love to see all our Foundation students and their parents there so please mark it into your diaries. Supper will be provided.

Sacrament of First Eucharist

This term, students will be preparing for the Sacrament of First Eucharist.

The Parent Child Workshops are scheduled for:

  • Wednesday 10th August at 5:00pm OR 7:00pm at the St Agatha's Church
  • Thursday 11th August at 7:00pm at the St Agatha's Parish Hall

Families need only attend ONE of these workshops which will be held in the St Agatha's Church.

The Sacramental Timetable for further dates has been included for your reference.

Be nurtured and grow.
