~ Do all that you do with love ~

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

Pyjama Day

Every day is better with pyjamas on and our Pyjama Day was no exception. Our wonderful community raised $371 for the Pyjama Foundation. As we've shared with you previously, the Pyjama Foundation support children living in foster care by providing resources needed for their education, something many of us take for granted. It was a little chilly first thing in the morning but that didn't matter to the many children snuggled up in their dressing gowns and Oodies. The sun shone and gave us a hint that perhaps the worst of winter is behind us, it also meant the staff dodgeball game could go ahead. I'd like to thank the staff and students for their generosity, I can't wait for our next Pyjama Day!

Thanks for popping in!

It was lovely to meet some of our parents last week in the first 'come for a cuppa'. Thank you for popping in and saying hello and making me feel so welcome. For those of you who missed it, I'm planning on making it a regular thing - watch this space for the next invite.

STEAM Club

It's always refreshing when teachers want to give up some of their lunch break to spend more time with the children. It's exciting when it leads to a new club that can tap into the enthusiasm and skills of staff and students. Miss Griffiths and Miss Petrova have begun a STEAM Club this term starting with the Grade 5/6 students. I've seen spheros making their way across into the learning space and heard talk of green screens. The aim of the club is to develop different digital technological skills and empower the senior students to share these skills with some of the younger students. I'm heading to the Edutech Conference this week and it's always exciting to see what new devices and teaching approaches are making their way into schools. Who knows what new ideas I will come back to school with to share with the staff and students or how long the shopping list will be! Watch this space.

Foundation Enrolments 2023

Have you got a little person ready to start school next year? If the answer to that question is yes, then my next questions is - have you completed an enrolment form for them? If the answer to that question is no, please contact the office. We still have a few places available in prep for 2023 and would appreciate knowing as soon as possible if any of our existing families require a place. It is important for us to know at this time of year so planning for staffing and class structures can begin.

Friendly Reminders

Don't forget to check out the Friendly Reminders page - all those little things that need to be in the newsletter each week but not necessarily in my message to the community!

Prayer for the week

Sit quietly on your chair with feet on the floor and your hands in your lap.

Breathe in slowly. Breathe out slowly. (Do this three or four times.)

Imagine arriving home from work/school.

You are very tired and hungry. You sit down to catch your breath for a minute.  You close your eyes.

When you open your eyes Jesus is kneeling before you. He has a basin of warm water, some soap, a cloth and a towel. Gently he removes your shoes and begins to wash your feet, massaging them and cleaning them, first one and then the other. Slowly he dries them with a soft towel.

Then he sets before you a delicious meal, just the food you love. It is hot and nourishing. He pours you a drink. You take a sip and have some of the food. You offer some to Jesus and he shares the meal with you.

You begin to feel revived, relaxed and content. When the meal is finished Jesus stands up to leave. You ask him to stay but he says he must go. As he leaves, he looks at you and says, ‘Now go and do the same.’

Have a great week!
