TERM 3

BEACHSIDE DIVISION SOCCER

On Monday the 18th of July some of the girls from Year 5 and 6 went to Bentleigh Greens on Centre Dandenong Road to play SSV soccer in the next round, Beachside Division. In the first game, we played against South Yarra Primary and the final score was 5-0 to St Agnes. The strikers really stood out in that game. In game 2 we had a BYE so we practiced and watched the team we were playing against next, which was Murrumbeena Primary School. It was a really close game and happened to be a tie (1-1) This game would determine who made it to the Semi Finals, thankfully we kicked the first goal which made us get through to the Semi Final. Some girls who played really well were Alexia Lyras and our midfield which included Erica Vella, Lexi Mazur, Sophia Lyras ,Sophia Di Nicolantonio and Patricia Koptidis.  In the Semi Finals we were playing against Loreto, we thought that it would be a very close game but we ended up winning 1-4!  We had a very strong defensive lineup which was also known as the ‘brick wall the defense’, who included Ella Inwood, Paige Tsoukalas and Erica Vella. Stella Connors played very well in the middle with tackling rough players. We made it to the Grand Final where St. Agnes played against Gardenvale Primary School.  The score was 4-0 to St. Agnes!  Our team played very well and we wouldn't be able to win without our teammates, Mr. Kost and the parents who were cheering us on!

Good job to Gardenvale Primary also for coming runners up.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in the SSV soccer :)

BASKETBALL

On Friday the 22nd of July the Grade 5/6s started interschool sports for Term 3. Some people are playing basketball, soccer and rounders. St Agnes beat St Catherines, 76-6 they tried their best but we ended up beating them. Some of the best players of the day were James O, with his amazing rebounding and running the ball up the court, and Lucas, who scored some points and Chloe, whose defense was very good.
