A message from our Principal

Dear Parents
We have had an extremely busy week and lots of celebrations have occurred.
Next week is Education Week. Education Week is an annual celebration of NSW public education and the achievements of our schools, students and education system. This year’s theme is ‘creating futures – education changes lives’ and celebrates the quality education we provide and the opportunities available to everyone in NSW public education. We had planned to have open classrooms, a BBQ and interest groups. Due to the current COVID situation that is impacting the operation of our school, and in consultation with our relieving Director Mark Snow and the COVID taskforce, we will be postponing our Education Week celebrations. That means our open classrooms, interest groups and BBQ lunch will all be held at a later date. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our celebrations soon.
This week, Rapid Antigen Tests were sent home for your use as required. If you did not receive the RATs, please contact our front office.
Last Friday, Harvey Glasgow represented the Western Region at the NSW PSSA Cross Country Championships in Sydney. He competed against the best of the best across the whole state with between 90-100 participants in his race alone. Congratulations Harvey on a wonderful achievement to reach this level.
Last Thursday saw our Athletics Carnival take place at MacKillop College. Blue sky shone on us at the start of the day, but the rain came in patches and bought our day to an early finish. However, we managed to get all our events run, except the house relays.
Participation was very high, particularly in our junior events. This was wonderful to see. We had one record broken in the 11yrs 100m. Congratulations Xavier Pawsey who broke the record from 2013 of 14.81 to run a 14.71!
Our house captains were keeping busy with the house cheers, very well supported from their house members. Macquarie were the eventual winners of the loudest house cheer on the day. A big congratulations to our age champions:
- Junior Boy - Issac Gafa
- Junior Girl - Alexis Hickey
- 11 Year Boy - Tom Hamer
- 11 Year Girl - Ruby Cole
- Senior Boy - Charlie Higgins
- Senior Girl - Sophie Francis
Our winning house on the day was Chifley. The District Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 12th August. Notes will be sent home next week.
Our Touch Football Team had a win in Lithgow against Cooerwull PS on Tuesday 7-1. They now play Orange PS tomorrow, Friday 29th July, in the Regional Semi Final. Well done to the girls, Mrs White and Mrs McPhee.
Our boys Rugby League Team travelled to Parkes yesterday to compete in the finals of the Western Knockout Competition. We played and won our first game against Calare PS and then played Forbes for a place in the final. After a good win against Forbes, we then played against Orana Heights PS in the final. After a hard fought match, we won the game 24-12. This has made us the 2022 Western Region Rugby League Champions. Congratulations to the boys, Miss Tilburg and Mrs Goninan on a sensational day. Thank you to all the parents who travelled and supported the team yesterday. NSW PSSA Knockout finals, here we come!!!!
ATSI Leaders Day – our eight AECG years 5 and 6 representatives will be taking part in a leadership day at Charles Sturt University coordinated by the Future Moves team. All local schools have been invited to send their AECG leaders to this event.
If any parent has any concerns regarding school life, please do not hesitate to contact me.
