What's Happening at CHPS....

Sports News

Congratulations to the Middle and Senior school students who participated at their House Athletics Carnivals over the past week.  It was wonderful to see so many students participating in so many events with smiles on their faces and encouraging their friends. Students strived for personal achievement as well as earning points for their House as a team.

Final House point results were:

Middles

1st – Yarra

2nd – Kiewa

3rd – Ovens

4th – Campaspe

Seniors

1st - Campaspe

2nd - Yarra

3rd – Kiewa

4th - Ovens

Based on the event results from the carnivals, we will begin the process of selections and further trials for some events over the next few weeks, during PE lessons and Recess & Lunch times.  Progression to the next stage of competition is District Athletics, which will be held on Thursday, September 1st.

Further information will be provided if your child is nominated to represent CHPS in an event for District.

A big thank you to all the parent helpers who volunteered their time and all staff involved to help make the day very enjoyable and run smoothly.

Division Netball Finals

Tomorrow our Blue Mixed Netball Team are playing off in the Maroondah Division Finals. Thank you  to the parents who have volunteered to transport the team and to Kali Fraser for coaching them.  We wish them the best of luck.

State Cross Country

Congratulations to Cooper from SLD, who finished 33rd place out 92 runners at the State Cross Country Championships last Thursday at Yarra Glen Racecourse.  What a fantastic effort at a state level!

Well done Cooper!

SCHOLASTIC BOOKCLUB

Today everyone should receive a Scholastic Book Club brochure. We only send out Scholastic brochures twice a year – once in Term 3 and again early in Term 4.  If you don’t receive yours there will be limited spares available from the Library, or you can just go online to https://www.scholastic.com.au/book-club/book-club-parents/ to view Brochure 5 and place your order.

Scholastic are giving away free books in Issue 5: 1 free book when you spend $30, 2 books when you spend $50 or 3 books when you spend $70.  This offer is available only if you order through LOOP and only on your FIRST eligible transaction on Issue 5.  If you are using the LOOP app, you will need to make sure that you have upgraded to the latest version.  If you choose the LOOP option (explained on the order form) you order your child’s individual items and pay for them.  No paperwork needs to be sent to the school. Your order will be received with the school’s orders and will be delivered to your child’s classroom along with the orders of the other students.  This is the only way to pay by credit card. The orders are due back by Wednesday 27th July.  If you try to put through a late order (which will be a couple of days after they are due back at school) you will be given the option to pay postage and have it sent directly to your home address.

Cash orders are sent to the school.  No orders are to go to the library or class teachers – they are to go directly to the office.  Please ensure that these orders have Name and Class on both the order form and the envelope.  If you want orders as gifts just put your name and a phone number on the order form and mark it clearly as a gift.  There is also a ‘Gift’ option if you pay by credit card, (however this is outside my control if it comes back from Scholastic with your child’s name on it).  We will contact you when they arrive at school and hold them at the office for you to collect.  We do earn valuable points for every purchase made which are used for new library books.  Your support is greatly appreciated.
