A note from Mr Jackson

Three Way Conferences – Students at The Centre

A special thanks for all who shared in the Three Way Conferences on a Monday and Tuesday. This was the first face to face meeting for students and teachers for a number of years. From all reports it was a powerful experience for students to present their learning and share their goals. It was impressive to see and hear students present and speak about their learning. Thanks for the collaborative spirit that supported students to be their best.

56Y and 34H conferences have been rescheduled to next Monday 25 July.

COVID Safety as Infection Numbers Increase

As noted in previous information, the Department of Education is encouraging our community to wear masks. COVID, along with the flu, has placed a significant demand on health services. The wearing of masks is a small action that can help minimise the number of infections as well as support the more vulnerable in our community. Students from Year 3 to Year 6 will be encouraged to wear masks while inside. While these actions have not been mandated, students will be encouraged to wear them. Disposable masks have been provided to classrooms for students and visitors who have not brought their own. More information can be found on the recent Compass newsfeed.

Attendance ‘It’s Not Okay to be Late’

Teachers are working energetically to ensure that class routines and learning rhythms are supporting students over the initial days of Term 3. With such significant disruption from COVID and the flu attendance at school has become even more important than usual.

The start of the day is an important opportunity to orientate students to a day of learning. Late arrivals to the classroom can disrupt learning for both the class and those who enter. I encourage all families to ensure routines are in place to support the prompt arrival at school each morning, enabling students to begin the day on the front foot.

Rosanna Lights Up for Disco

Everyone has been excited about the disco that is to be held next week on Friday 29 July. Please make sure that you register the attendance of your child on Qkr! A special thanks to all in FORPS who are bringing the event together for what will be an enjoyable evening.

Concert Preparation

One of the highlights that we have missed out on during COVID is a celebration of music and dance held every second year. This whole school concert has been an opportunity for students to experience and perform a range of uniquely choreographed music numbers to our wider school community. After a great deal of discussion, teachers have expressed their eagerness to plan for such a performance in term 4. While seats will be limited for families, the evening has always proven to be a highlight for all. Pencil into your diaries, the evening of Wednesday, 12 October. It will be a night you will not want to miss. More will be revealed in the coming weeks.

2023 Plans

As we enter the second semester of 2022, we continue to plan and prepare to welcome our 2023 Prep cohort to Rosanna Primary. Many have enjoyed the opportunity to visit the school during Education Week, our Prep Information Morning and school tours. If you are a parent of a child that you wish to enrol for next year, I encourage you to make contact with the office to receive a copy of the current enrolment form. This term will see us embark upon the formation of our workforce plan. This plan is dependent on the number of students enrolled. Please let me know if you have any questions.

For those moving or considering a tree change, perhaps even a sea change, it would be helpful to know of your plans even though they may not be finalised.
