Book Week 2022
Book Week 2022
Book Week is fast approaching! The children are excited to be able to fully celebrate Book Week onsite this year and we have some fun activities planned.
Book Week Theme:
Dreaming With Eyes Open
Each year the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) chooses a theme for Book Week. This year's theme Dreaming With Eyes Open explores using our imagination.
Well-written books will stimulate the reader's imagination and allow the reader to dream themselves into a book. We can travel to other places, times, and even other worlds.
Inspiring characters in books can challenge us to dare to dream and take on new adventures.
Last term we began reading the CBCA's shortlisted books during Library lessons. Many of the books are now available to read on Story Box Library too. See your child's Google Classroom for the log-in details to access the books.
Book Week Parade
Our annual Book Week Parade will take place on Monday 22nd August at 9:00 am. This year we will be able to have a proper parade after two years of online parades!
The children are invited to come to school dressed as a character from a favourite book or they might like to dress according to the theme. Children will parade their costumes at morning assembly in the hall.
If your child’s costume is not suitable to be worn all day, please make sure they bring a change of clothes. Toddlers (and parents!) are welcome to join us in the parade.
Author Visit
On Thursday 25th August at 2:15 pm: Gus Gordon (Author/Illustrator) will visit our school and conduct a session with all the children in Prep to Year 6. We will explore some of Gus' books over the next few weeks and we look forward to him sharing his writing and illustrating tips.
Happy reading!
