Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop

Next Monday we celebrate the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.  This day, while significant to all Australians, is especially significant to us as St Mary was the founder of the Sisters of St Joseph who opened our school way back in 1942.

As a Josephite school, we continue to be inspired by the work of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Next Monday we will celebrate the day with a Paraliturrgy in our Community Hall commencing at 9:00 am. Parents are most welcome to attend yet as the event will be held indoors we ask that all adults in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Book Week

Book Week 2022 is  not far off so please check out the Book Week page of our newsletter for ongoing details.

Mask Wearing

Thank you to all families who continue to support our school's practices on mask-wearing.

Keeping our staff and students safe has been our first priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Corpus Christi School is continuing our existing COVIDSafe measures to help limit the spread of the virus, including air purifiers, improved ventilation and hand hygiene.

This has also included the wearing of face masks, which has been recommended by the Department of Health for indoor settings in schools since 26 April 2022.

As schools across Victoria face a high number of COVID-19 and flu cases this winter, and in view of the above advice, our governing authority Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) has asked that all students aged eight and over and all staff wear masks when in class from now until the end of winter.

COVID Positive Pathways Program

COVID Positive Pathways (CPP) provides care and support at home for Victorians diagnosed with COVID-19. The program is for people who are most likely to need care and support at home from their local health service while they have COVID-19.

Support may include:

  • regular symptom monitoring
  • telehealth assessments
  • access to antiviral medications where indicated
  • expedited access to escalated care as required.

All Victorians, including students, are eligible for support through CPP, with allocation based on their healthcare needs.

Parents, staff or students who test positive on a rapid antigen or PCR test can apply for support via an online form or the Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398.

More information on the program is available at coronavirus.vic.gov.au.

PFA Meeting

Our Next PFA meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 17th August commencing at 6:30pm. On the Agenda will be all things Father's Day so please feel free to join. Coffee is on me!

Emergency Management Drills

Over the coming weeks our school will be executing a series of Emergency Management Drills so that we are well prepared should an event occur.

If at any time you arrive at school, during a drill you will be asked to comply and participate so we thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Today we practised an evacuation drill which went really smoothly. It was nice to know our Year Preps were most relieved when they saw me as they were quite worried about me because I was the last to arrive at the evacuation point. How cute is that!

School Closure Day: Staff Professional Development Day

Please make sure you have marked in your diaries Friday 19th August as our next School Closure Day: Staff Professional Development Day. Students do NOT attend school on this day.

God bless
