Principal's Report

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Annual P & F Fundraiser is scheduled for 27th August and promises to be a fantastic evening.  This is a great way to get to know other parents in our wonderful community, as well as raise funds for school capital projects.  This year the P & F will be assisting with furnishing the new  outdoor classroom as well as resurfacing this area as well.  We are looking at an acrylic paint surface with a design to be determined by the Student Representative Council.

Annual School Improvement Survey

Later this term (29th August) all families will receive an email from me which will contain an annual data collection survey (MACSIS). This survey is very important for our school improvement plan and I request that all families completed it.  All staff and Years 4-6 students will also complete this survey.  Additional information regarding this survey will be emailed to families by myself later this term.

School Review

Later this Term and early in Term 4, St. Finbar's School will be undergoing its 4 yearly review cycle.  We will have an external reviewer who will visit the school to see the students in action and speak with parents and students as well as staff.  The reviewer will present a report to us that will drive our school improvement for the next 4 year cycle.  This is always an exciting time to acknowledge the great things we do as a school as well as identify future directions that we can do to improve our current teaching and learning.

Prep 100 Days of School

My sincere thanks to all of the staff for making the Prep 100 days of school so special. Particular thanks to Mrs. Jo Fraser our Maths Leader for all of the background planning for the event.  Thanks also to Miss Happell, Mrs. Byrne, Sally and Ania for an amazing day for the students.

P & F Student DISCO

A huge thank you to the P & F for a very fun evening last Friday in our School Hall.  It was so good to see our children have a great night and enjoy time with their friends.

School Advisory Council Meeting

On Tuesday evening this week I met with the School Advisory Council.  At this meeting I gave a full report to members about school enrolments, school financials, the new child safe standards and my Principal Appraisal Process.  In regards to my Principal Appraisal process, I am currently in the second last year of my Principal contract for St. Finbar's school.  I began at St. Finbar's in July of 2015 and my contract is due to expire in December of 2023.  I will be seeking a 5 year extension beyond this date.  I will keep the community appraised of my progress.

P & F Meeting

The next P & F Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 2nd August.  All parents are welcome to attend.  The meeting will be in the staff room and will begin at 7pm.

Year 2 Prayers in Pajamas

My thanks to Miss Kim Davis, Mr. Peter Tyndall, Mrs. Sonia Blakey, Ms. Michelle Hill and Mr Steele Anderson for running the Year 2 Prayers in Pajamas evening on Tuesday this week.  It was wonderful to see the children and their parents sharing their faith during this special time.  The Year 2 Family Mass is on Saturday 6th August at 5:30pm in the Church.  The Prep Prayers in Pajamas will be held next Tuesday from 5:30pm.
