Principal Report

The school is back in full swing again this term. We have lots of events happening. Please keep an eye out in our newsletter and on our Facebook page for all details on upcoming events.

As you can see we are trialing a new digital platform for our newsletter. Please feel free to provide us with any feedback. We are always striving to communicate with our parents and community more effectively.

On Monday, 1 August we held our annual SRC Induction Assembly. Student-led teams offer a way for young people to actively build their own leadership capabilities through meaningful and engaging learning experiences. Students were presented with their SRC badges and made a pledge to the student body. It was great to see parents/carers in attendance.

With the colder weather continuing, we are seeing more and more students out of uniform. We wish to remind families of our uniform policy. Students are not permitted to wear tracksuit pants on any other day besides their sports day. Also, we are seeing many students wear colourful hoodies. Hoodies are not part of the school uniform; if you are cold, you can wear multiple layers and a beanie.

This week is the start of our HSC Trials; we would like to wish all of our Year 12 students all the best for the trials. If you are unwell and miss one of your exams you will need to provide the school with a medical certificate. We understand the difficulties with getting into our local doctors, however, you are able to use online doctors to obtain a medical certificate.

Sites such as https://www.doctorsondemand.com.au  are available Australia-wide 24/7. Please find a sight that you are comfortable using. If you test positive for COVID 19, when you register with Service NSW for your positive case, they will text you a link to your medical certificate that you can use.

We have a number of school improvement projects started or due to start soon:

  • Upgrade to our school Oval: this should be completed in the September school holidays.
  • The completion of the school fence: at this stage, it will be completed by early next term.
  • We have been told that the upgrade to our Basketball court should be started by the end of the year.
  • Our Gym floor improvement has been approved, however, we are still waiting on a start date.
  • On 29 August, the LCD light upgrade will start: this will be taking place after school hours and will take up to four (4) weeks. We have been reassured that this will not impact any part of the school day to day operation.
  • We are looking at replacing the school sign out the front of the school: we are hoping to be able to turn the sign and have a double screen so drivers can see the sign. We are awaiting council approval before commencement.

We are constantly looking at ways to improve the environment of our school to ensure that both staff and students have the best resources and environment in which to excel.
