A Message from David & Cam...

Book Week

We have celebrated Book Week a little earlier this year as we have camps running during the official Book Week (20-26th August). After two years of remote and restricted Book Weeks, we are thrilled to be able to celebrate all things books properly this year. All throughout the week we have had book related activities from story telling sessions, door decorations and the amazing Story Quest incursion. The highlight of the week will certainly be tomorrow when we all dress as book characters and have our special Book Week assembly led by our student Library Leaders and Monitors.

I huge thank you to Carly and the team of teachers that plan all of the events that have made this year's Book Week so much fun.

Here are the door displays:

Read More for Lismore

A couple of weeks ago, 2/3L held a book fair to raise much needed funds for the Lismore Library which was devasted by floods earlier in the year. It was wonderful to hear that our students were so caring and wanted to help out in any way that they could. It was also great to see the level of support from all the students that attended the fair and bought some books. Great work, 2/3L!

Support Jensen at the Nationals!

On the 27th of August, Jensen is heading to Adelaide to compete at the annual School Sport Victoria Cross Country Championship in the 10-12 Years Cross Country Team. This is an incredible achievement by Jensen and we are all so proud of him for not only the achievement but the wonderful effort that he puts in to reach his goals.

To support Jensen we will have an out of uniform day (gold coin donation) on Monday 22nd August. Students are encouraged to dress in sports gear on the day but feel free to just wear casual clothes. This is the perfect day to show moral and financial support to Jensen and his family as Jensen will also be competing in the 1500m Laverton District Athletics that day which will be held at our school. The money raised from the day will go to Jensen's family to support with the costs associated with attending the Nationals which is approximately $1000 for fees, insurance, admin charges, transport etc.

We cannot wait to hear about the race - Go Jensen!!

AGPS Spook-Tacular Trivia

We cannot wait for this event tomorrow night! This is another event on the AGPS calendar that has not been able to go ahead since 2019 so we are really looking forward to this. The trivia night is always a great way for the parents and carers of our community to connect and have kid-free fun! The event also acts as a great fundraiser and every dollar raised goes directly towards our fundraising goal of improving our sporting facilities.

Whether you are attending or not, you can support the event by participating in the silent auction. There is a wonderful array of prizes on offer and something for everyone. Check out the items by following the link below and share the auction page with family and friends.

I would like to thank Meagan King and her team of parent volunteers who have helped put this event together as well as Nathan Arundell for arranging many of the amazing auction prizes.

Parent Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

It is a really important data set for us as we plan for further improvements to our school. The survey was completed by a large percentage of parents and carers last year and all of that data was used when planning our Annual Implementation Plan.

Information about this survey was sent via Compass and I encourage as many people as possible to take the time to respond.
