Parents and Friends

A big welcome WPS Families to the 2023 school year from the Parents and Friends Committee (P&F).  We are very excited to see our school community growing with many new families joining us this year.  We are looking forward to getting to know you all over the year ahead.

So, you may be asking what is the P&F Committee anyway?

Our goals include:

  • Contributing to the wellbeing of the school community
  • Encouraging families to participate at WPS
  • Promoting relationships and inclusivity for the students, parents and staff
  • Fundraising for essential school programs and activities

Your support in our school community can be in many varied ways and we are appreciative of and welcome all skills that individuals can offer!

We are currently planning for the year and are exploring some options that will both bring our school family together as a team and raise some funds to invest back into our kid’s education.

Next Thursday (February 16) at 3pm the P&F Committee will have an informal catch up in the new multi-purpose room and we would love to see as many new faces as possible.  Bring along your ideas and enthusiasm and let’s start planning!

If you would like to be involved but cannot make it to the meeting please let us know or let Mary and Michelle know at the office and they will point you in the right direction.

THANK YOU!!

Let’s not forget the yummy ‘Pop Up’ Cake Stall we ran at the end of last year.  Once again it was a fantastic fundraiser with $460 raised in a matter of a few mad minutes.  There were some amazing little treats and this was only because of all the parents and families that put the time into contributing.  Thank you so much everyone that was involved in some way, we really appreciate your support!  Thanks to Lucy B for your work leading up to the day.

End of Term BBQ – Term 4 also happened the final week of 2022 and made us $450.  Leona D and Mark B ran a very slick operation to churn out those sausages and snacks and I know the kids always look forward to them.  Also, it was a welcome relief for parents to not have to pack lunch that day!  Thank you so much for all your hard work BBQ team, we realise there is a lot of work leading up to the day to organise it too.  We are very grateful to Leo at Mediterranean Butchers for donating all the sausages and to Coles Prahran for providing all of the icy-poles.

I’m sure you will excited to know that the profits from both of these events have already been put to good use in our ELC area.  A batch of new readers have been ordered this week and will soon be in circulation in the Prep-Grade 2 reader boxes.

ICE CREAM FRIDAY – 3.30pm at the Food Tech Window

Choc-coated Ice creams are back for Term One so bring along your $2 on Friday and they will be available for purchase at 3.30pm from the Food Tech Window. All profits will go towards planting out our new Community Edible Garden which is located along the end wall of the ELC Building.  The P&F Committee are very excited to be able to finance this special space that the entire community will continue to enjoy.

TOASTIES TUESDAY LUNCH ORDERS

You can order your cheese toasties for lunch each Tuesday.  Simply bring along your $2 and give it to your teacher at roll call and the toasties will be delivered to the classrooms at lunchtime. Thank you to our parents who are prepping and cooking each week to make this all happen.  Also, a big thank you to Woolworths Prahran for donating all the supplies needed to make the toasties each week.  All profits this term from toasties will be used to purchase a defibrillator for the school.
