What's happening in Years 7, 8 and 9.
On behalf of the Junior Sub School at Glenroy College, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you all. It is a great pleasure to share our Term One successes with you .
We are proud to report that our students are showing great enthusiasm about their learning. They actively participate in class, ask questions, and seek help when needed. We have noticed a significant improvement in their work ethic and academic performance, and we are excited to see how they progress throughout the year.
Congratulations to students who received Glenroy Gold cards. As a result of their hard work, students went to the SWPBS bowling excursion. We encourage all students to continue working hard so that they can receive this recognition and be celebrated for their achievements.
As a College, we are committed to celebrating both academic achievement and academic progress. We believe that every student has the potential to excel, and we are dedicated to helping them reach their full potential. We have several initiatives planned to celebrate student achievements throughout the year.
The year 7 orientation camp to Phillip Island was an incredible experience for both students and teachers. The students had a fantastic time exploring the island and participating in various team-building activities. We were thrilled to see how quickly the students adapted to their new environment, formed new friendships and challenged themselves. We are confident that this experience will have a positive impact on their overall growth and development.
The Term One focus went beyond emotional growth and mental wellbeing, with Year 7 students stepping outside of their comfort zones to look after their physical health too. The first bravery challenge came when Merri-Bek Council nurses visited to deliver vaccinations, with most students rolling up their sleeves to get the job done. Students had to shoulder their nerves again when the dental van came to check their teeth.
Year 8 has been studying different forms of poetry this term. Students have created poetry portfolios which include limericks, haiku and song lyrics. Haiku are a Japanese form of poetry which use imagery and juxtaposition to describe elements of nature.
Once again, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to working together to ensure the success of our students.
