Environment Group News
Ms Kathryn Badini
We’re coming up to a year from the 2022 Brisbane floods which obviously had a devasting impact on South-East Queensland and beyond, and more locally, caused mass erosion of our local creek. Consequently, our Environment Group is focused on rehabilitating our creek at the start of this year through two initiatives.
The first was a planting morning with the Oxley Creek Catchment Association. A team of boys were out bright and early last Tuesday morning planting a range of Spotted Gum, She Oak, Melaleuca and Lomandra along the riparian zone. This extends the great work that GreenAsh does in Terms 2 and 3. For further information about GreenAsh or to sign up please email Mrs Andrea Williams at williamsa@marash.qld.edu.au.
The second will be a creek-clean up for Clean Up Australia Day happening on Sunday 28 February (note: not the official CUAD date but a MCA special!) from 8:00am–10:00am and then a BBQ from 10:00am–11:00am. All students are very welcome to attend and gain some MATES hours as well. For further information or to sign up please email Ms Kathryn Badini at badinik@marash.qld.edu.au.
