School of Innovation
Welcome to our 2023 school year!
What a wonderful start we have had! It has been exciting to welcome our new Year 7s, and to welcome back our Year 8s and 9s to St. Anne’s College!
Our School of Innovation students and staff have been focusing on our school expectations (SWPBS framework): Respect Everyone and Everything, Do Our Best and Help Others to Succeed. We have also examined our Leaner Assets and how they relate to our learning and development.
Our Years 7, 8 and 9 students have discussed the importance of Cyber Safety and safe and positive use of devices. This is a timely reminder that our school is a ‘phone free’ zone and students must ensure if their phones are brought to school, they remain in their lockers.
Our School of Innovation students have been developing relationships within their Pastoral Groups and classes, and enjoying the wonderful resources we have available at St. Anne’s.
Our Pastoral Groups include students from all year levels in School of Innovation, and enable us to create, develop and enhance a sense of belonging, safety and joy within our school ‘family’ group. We have begun our journey with The Resilience Project (TRP) and explored the GEME Principles - Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy.
On Monday, students will receive their journals and these will be looked after by their Pastoral Group Leaders. We are so excited to be involved with The Resilience Project and encourage you to discuss this further with your child/children.
Our Year 7 students have had the awesome opportunity to meet and begin working with their ‘Buddies’ in the Foundation class. This is the beginning of mentoring relationships that encourage collaboration and cooperation between our School of Wonder and School of Innovation students. It is a wonderful learning experience that all students gain so much from. It has been a joy to watch this in action!
Our Year 8 students have settled in brilliantly to their second year at St. Anne’s College! There has been exploration, research and discussion of the topics in each of our subject areas as we have embarked on work with Integers, history, geography and language conventions.
Our Year 9 students have also settled in fabulously as they have been introduced to each of their subjects areas and the content being undertaken in each. Students have selected their novels for their novel study, have begun exploring identity, culture and Religious diversity, and are adapting wonderfully to being more senior students in the School of Innovation.
