What is Happening in Mathematics

Scoresby Secondary College is focused on learning growth and growth mindset. In Mathematics we teach students at their point of need. Year 7-9 Mathematics is team-taught which comprises of three teachers. Scoresby Secondary College has had great academic achievement and improved learning growth using this model including being consistently in the top five schools in the State for NAPLAN. We are very fortunate to have the support of an extra teachers in the classroom to cater to the students’ needs. This model allows us to modify the work or extend and stretch our students beyond their year-level curriculum. Each term teachers will rotate learning groups to ensure they build relationships with all students. Students also complete a range of whole class learning activities such as problem-solving and investigations.

In addition to regular classroom mathematics the College allocates further extension opportunities students through our Top Achievers Programs at Scoresby (TAP@s) and  intervention program support through our Numeracy Intervention Programs (NIP's)
