Art & Technology
What's Happening in Art
The Art/Technology department finished 2022 on a high with the very successful Art & Technology Showcase in November, and a great social outreach project during activity week in December.
Over the week of activities, students from Years 7 – 9 created 150 + handmade Christmas trees, which were presented to the residents of Arcare Knox to decorate their rooms and their communal spaces at Christmas. It was a mammoth effort to create the required number of trees, and the students did a great job (although I will be cleaning the glitter out of the art room for the next ten years!). The trees were greatly appreciated by the recipients, and it was fantastic to be able to brighten their Christmas a little bit.
This week our Year 9 Art/Visual Communication students will begin working on a special project for the Knox Festival, working with the Artist facilitator Sonia Zymantas to explore the concept of Dreams – more information and images on this project as it develops, and keep your eyes open for the finished work at the Knox festival.
In 2023 we welcome some new staff. Rodney Treigaardt joins us as the new VCE Design Technology teacher and comes to us with a wealth of valuable experience. We also have Ms Caroline Huynh with us temporarily while Ms Maria Theoradakis is recovering from illness, and we really appreciate her input in Media and Drama.
I am excited for what we anticipate will be exciting year in Arts and Technology and look forward to bringing you the highlights as the year progresses.
