Senior School Report

Welcome Back!

I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome back to all families and students, in particular to those joining us for the first time. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break with family and friends and look forward to a positive year ahead.

Our Year 12 students have already benefitted from attending Ormond College Residential Camp hearing from inspiring guest speakers in the areas of English, Wellbeing, Industry, and some past Scoresby Secondary College students. It was a valuable experience that students thoroughly enjoyed.

Our Senior students have all settled smoothly back into classes and it has been pleasing to see the number of students utilising their time both in and out of the classroom to ensure they start the year with the most opportunity for success.

All students should have the required booklist items ready for a successful year ahead.

Year 12 Residential Ormond College

Our experience at Ormond College felt surreal, it was a camp surrounded by beautiful architecture, history, helpful lectures and even amazing team building activities. On our first day, we all eagerly awaited for our keys to our dorms. Once unpacked we all set off for our first few lectures of the day, the lectures tutored us about VCE English and how to begin studying effectively for the year of learning ahead. We all collectively participated in team building games, my favorite was a game of Chinese whispers mixed with charades, the continuous laughter between our whole year level was definitely a highlight for me.

Ms Major’s speech after dinner informed us about the expectations and priorities to be successful in our last year of high school. By the end of the night, to end things off with a bang, Levi (Rose)  and myself hosted a trivia event, where things got fierce between teachers and students competing to be the best.

On our second day we started off with a beautiful breakfast, where we all took in our surroundings for the last time before we were going to have a full day, our morning started with a lecture about anxiety and how we can all effectively help ourselves day to day with our anxiety and who to reach out to, which we felt very helpful.

For the remainder of the day we went to the University Of Melbourne where we were spoken to about the majors and degrees the university provides, having a great look at all the incredible buildings and scenery around the area was truly eye-opening, I could see and envision myself somewhere there in the near future. If I could, I would do the experience all over again.
