Curriculum Contributions

Thank you on behalf of College Council to families who have paid Curriculum Contributions or have committed to payments plans for 2023.  We aim to provide the best environment and resources for our students.

We set our contributions at a minimum knowing that families have a lot of commitments.  We need your ongoing support to maintain and develop our students and school.  If you would like to set up a payment plan for 2023, please email Mrs Vicky Kamfonas vicky.kamfonas@education.vic.gov.au

Absences / Attendance

Students are expected to be at school on time every day and be punctual to every class. Absences and lateness to school must be reported on the College 24 hour Absence Hotline 9765 4100 (option 1) or through the Compass Parent Portal at scoresbysc-vic.compass.education

The College Attendance policy is available on the College website.

Minimum student attendance is a requirement and unapproved, excessive absences can impact on a student satisfactorily meeting the requirements of their course of study.

Absences - Students are required to bring either a note signed by a parent or a medical certificate to explain an absence. This is to be given to your Home Group Teacher. Students in Senior School are required to attend College for a minimum of 95% of scheduled classes to complete the year or the semester unit satisfactorily. Absences covered by medical certificates or appropriate professional evidence are not normally deducted. Lateness to class will be treated on a pro-rata basis.

Students in Years 11 and Year 12 should be aware that if they are absent for a SAC, a medical certificate will be required to approve the absence and this medical certificate should be given to the Head of Senior School, Ms Michelle deBoer. If a student is expected to be away for more than two days, a parent should advise the relevant Year Level Coordinator.

Extended absences other than illness, will not be approved unless 6 weeks written notice is given, prior to an absence, and an exemption by the principal has been obtained.

Arriving Late - Students who are late to school must report to the Resource Centre to sign in on arrival. Students who are late without an approved note of explanation, may be required to make up the time with a member of the Sub-School team. Students who are late to class may also be required to make up the time with their classroom teacher at a time to suit the teacher.

Students must complete all work missed as a result of an absence because of illness or other school activities.

Early Leavers - If it is necessary to leave school early or leave for an appointment during the day, students must provide an explanatory note written by their parent/guardian and given to their Year Level Coordinator’s Office before school. An Early Leavers Pass will be issued.

Just prior to leaving the school, students should report to the General Office for the Early Leavers Pass to be confirmed. If your student is under 16 years of age their parent/guardian must come to the General Office to collect them.

If students do have a known reason for leaving school early, it is their responsibility to follow these instructions fully. Students cannot be called over the PA system to be reminded to come to the office.

Emergency Contacts

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR CONTACT DETAILS

It is very important that we have up-to-date contact information for all students. If you have changed your address, phone numbers or emergency contact person, please complete an ‘Update Contact Details’ form and forward to the General Office or email scoresby.sc@education.vic.gov.au

Money brought to school

If a student has to bring money to school for contributions, excursions, camps etc, it should be paid directly to the General Office before school.  The General Office is open for this purpose between 8.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 3.30pm on Fridays.  Students may also have their payments accepted at recess, lunchtime and after school.

This process minimises the opportunity for forms or payments to be misplaced while students can also be issued with a receipt.

Personal Property

Parents / guardians and students should be aware that personal property brought to school is not covered by the College or Department of Education and Training does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage.  Personal property is often brought to school by students, staff, and visitors.  This can include mobile phones, calculators, toys, sporting equipment and cars parked on school premises.  Students are discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school.
