Staff Profile
Ms Kiriaki Caracasidis
Often opportunities come along and if we do not act quickly, we may miss out. The opportunity to work at Scoresby Secondary College was the one opportunity that did not get away!
I am not sure when I decided I wanted to be a teacher, but teaching is what I have been doing for the past 30 years in both private and public schools. At Scoresby Secondary College I am teaching Chemistry, Science and Mathematics, all the subjects I have a passion for, as well as working with the team members of the Junior Sub-School as the Head of Junior School. I have had a variety of roles in education ranging from curriculum development to student wellbeing and management. I look forward to applying my skills, knowledge and involvement with the VCAA to support the learning journeys of all students within our school.
Apart from being a teacher I am also an animal lover. Together with my sons, as they were growing up, we have bred budgies, guinea pigs, eastern brown frogs, bearded dragons and kept bees. Although I have now ceased these projects, my sons continue to keep bees and I enjoy the honey every now and then. These days I spend my free time enjoying my beautiful old American Staffy Cross, Johnson Bulldog. She is my gentle companion and is happy to potter with me in the garden, entertain friends or snore beside me as I read.
Scoresby Secondary College is impressive with its vast grounds and friendly staff and students who quickly and genuinely accepted me into the school. I immediately felt the community spirit and real compassion and care staff have for our students and each other. I am glad to be part of the school community where I will endeavour to do my very best to invest in the development of our students – our future.
