Summer Design Intensive

On the 24th and 25th of January, Visual Communication, Studio Art and Media students came to school to learn different Adobe Software. These included InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom and Photoshop. It was an extremely helpful workshop and I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of doing these classes. We learned different layouts for magazines and how to effectively use different tools in the software, as well as how to alter and sort through images quickly. My favourite part was at the end where we were able to use all of our skills to create a mini magazine. We created everything from the logo to the colour palette. I really liked my magazine because a lot of the images were photos I had taken myself and it felt quite personalised. If you ever get the opportunity to do this workshop, even if you think you won’t use it, I would definitely go!

The Summer Design Intensive Program was a great experience for all who joined in and participated, whether experienced or inexperienced students, like myself. This Summer Design Intensive Program gave me and many others a quick and educating two days of jam-packed learning, giving us reassurance and preparation before coming back to school from the summer holidays. The program went through teaching and application of four different Adobe Software packages, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom. We learned the basics and techniques when creating our posters, or logos to the best of our ability. Students were given a Summer Design Intensive Worksheet to use as a template, and Mr Beever showed us with lots of detail and care how to use the software to create digital compositions. We learned a lot from these two days and the Adobe Software, better equipping our students. Our regards to Mr Beever, Ms Mitchell and Ms Jackson for helping and supporting us when using the complicated software.
