Importance of Attendance and providing Medical Certificates for absences during SACs.
Our VCE students in Years 11 & 12 are all now starting to complete School Assessed Coursework (SACs) to demonstrate their understanding of the Outcomes for each of their subjects. If a student is absent on the day of a SAC, they must provide a medical certificate with the date of the SAC on it. Presenting this certificate will give them the opportunity to complete the SAC for a score. Without a certificate, their score will be zero. For Year 12 students, a score of zero has serious consequences for their ATAR. If a student is away on the day of a SAC, they need to contact their teacher to discuss when they will complete the SAC. Senior students are expected to maintain 90% + attendance at college.
Importance students only submitting their own work
School Assessed Coursework (SACs) must be completed within fixed time frames and be verified as being the work of the student. Students must submit work that is; genuinely theirs, observed in class time, completed with acceptable levels of assistance.
A suspected breach of VCAA authentication rules (plagiarism) will be investigated if work is suspected of not being the students own original work.
Year 12
The Year 12 students were very excited on their first day as the 'Class of 23' to receive their Year 12 jackets. A very big THANK YOU to Maddie for her work in organising the jackets and having them ready for the first day. The Year 12 students are recognisable every where they go and are wearing their jackets with pride,
We encourage our Year 12 students to plan ahead for their upcoming SACs, by recording when they are in their Google Calendar. The Assessment Schedule is posted to the Year 12 Noticeboard and will be updated regularly.
Request to all parents and carers it is essential that all Senior School student absences are supported by a Medical Certificate
Planning for Year 12 Valedictory event on 8th December
The college has commenced planning to celebrate as a community the successful completion by our first cohort of year 12 students of their VCE studies. We will establish a working party comprised of students and staff to work together to plan this important first event.
Senior School Study Sessions
Year 12 students have been taking advantage of their Study Sessions in the Library. We will soon be receiving our new furniture, that has been ordered for the Senior Lounge. Advice on how to study is also available on the Year 12 Noticeboard and on the signs around the Senior Lounge. It is important for students to recognise the difference between coursework/homework and study. Year 12 students ALWAYS have study to do. Even if they have completed their homework, they can still study in order to revise their notes and prepare for upcoming SACs.
VCE - Vocational Major
What does the VCE Vocational Major look like?
To get your VCE Vocational Major, you must successfully finish at least 16 units, including:
●3 VCE VM Literacy or VCE English units (including a Unit 3–4 sequence)
●2 VCE VM Numeracy or VCE Mathematics units
●2 VCE VM Work Related Skills units
●2 VCE VM Personal Development Skills units, and
●2 VET credits at Certificate II level or above (180 nominal hours)
The Vocational Major (VM) students are also working towards demonstrating an understanding of their first Outcome. VM students will complete several Hurdle Tasks in the lead up to a School Assessed Task (SAT). The hurdle tasks are important as students will receive feedback which will help them with their SAT. If a VM student is absent on the day of a SAT or when a SAT is due, they are required to provide a medical certificate for that absence.

A word from One of our Year 10s
Chris Menzies interview with Julia in year 10.
The start of the new school year has gone well so far. The new electives and classes have been an exciting change for all students. This semester I’m doing psychology where we’re learning about the different functions of the brain and mind, body and soul where we’re learning about the dimensions of health and the different factors that affect them. I also decided to challenge myself by choosing the advanced maths class and so far it is going great. We just finished our unit on simple and compound interest and are now looking at probability, I enjoy the increased pace and challenge compared to other years. I’m enjoying all my new classes and have loved the opportunity to get to know some new people through all of my different classes. It has also been great to be able to attend lunchtime activities such as the year 10 volleyball tournaments on Fridays and study sessions in the library. Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better start to year 10.
