All Star 5/6 Boys Regional Final

Congratulations to the All Star Boys year 5 and 6 team who last week competed at the Regional State Finals.   Reuben and Ned have written a recount of the day!

Holt District:

Holt District was our first round. We played multiple different teams including St Josephs, St Agnes, OLOL,St Marys and St Catherines.  In our 1st two games we won comfortably by about 10pts. But in our 3rd game we went down by 3 to St Josephs.  We wanted revenge, as up until the finals we were undefeated. We came up in the finals against St Josephs.  After a tight first half we won by over 10 points and got through to regionals.

Regional Finals:

After our win at Holt we progressed to regional finals.  We played St Kilda Primary in our first game, led most of the game and went down by 1 point.  In the second, we got our first win of the day over St Josephs. We beat them by 5 points. After that we could only afford to lose one more game, otherwise our chances of going through were 0. In our third game we came up against Toorak Primary. They proved to be one of the best teams and we went down by 1 again. Now we couldn’t lose. Our team could only draw or win from then on. In the next game we won against Strathmore South. Our chances of making the final were increasing. It was our second last game before the final and we played Our Lady of Good Counsel. It proved to be an incredibly tight game and we came out with a draw. Our hopes weren’t high, as we were about to play the best team at the competition. We were playing St Joan of Arc. Most of the boys knew if we won we had a chance to make states and..... we Won. To qualify for states we came up against Port Melbourne Primary.   We went into overtime and sadly lost by 2 Points.

We held our heads up high, knowing that we played well.

A huge thank-you to Andrew Mc(dad of Marcus), Liz M(mum of Eamon) and Anna P(mum of Nick) for your valuable time and expertise on the day! Not only did the team have personal drivers they also had a great coach and team doctor!

Swimming Program and Carnival

This term we also look forward to the school swimming program and Carnival. This will be held at the same location as in previous years. SwimRight Sandringham

150 Tulip Street, Cheltenham, Vic, 3192

The swimming program will run from Monday 18th November until Wednesday 27th November.  The swimming carnival will be held the following day on Thursday 28th November.  If you have any concerns regarding the swimming program please contact myself or your child’s classroom teacher.  We will be asking for volunteers to help get students ready before and after swimming.

On that can I ask that all families please ensure their child’s CareMonkey is up to date in regards to swimming abilities.

N.B. House coloured caps are compulsory for the actual swimming carnival and are available for purchase from the office @ $8.00 each.    They are not required for the lead up swimming program, but it is recommended that students wear a swimming cap at all times when in the pool.

Thank-you,

Mrs Georgia McNamara
