Bus to Blue Mountains Grammar School

There will be a bus travelling to the Blue Mountains for this Saturdays B team games. The Bus will leave from Anderson St at 7:45am and will be back at Chatswood around 3:30pm. All players are expected to travel on the bus. Only students who are organising their own transport need to see me.

Overall we had some better results across all the division last Saturday.

Game of the day: The Open Ds nearly let a handy lead slip away, but Gregor Dingley knocked down the winner with only moments to go. Gregor and Connor Montgomery lead the way with strong games.

Play of the day:  Alec Paterson (Open Ds) hits his first 3 pointer for the season.

Deserves a mention: Sam Hassan – Open Fs.  Luke Haldane, James Griffith and Reef Farias – 13Bs. Conall Molloy and Michael Krizan – 13Cs.

ISA Round 3 – 1st XI v St Stanislaus’ College at Oxford Falls

At home for the first time in the ISA competition, the 1st XI met St Stanislaus in round 3. The loss of the toss saw the 1st XI in the field. A sloppy performance in the first hour (apart from a fine low catch by Stuart Dingley) was improved upon due to the tight medium pace bowling of Laurence Sheehan and James Power and the probing 10 over spell of leg spinner, Liam Kinna. In the middle 17 overs of the innings 4 wickets were taken for just 23 runs, a great reversal of fortunes.  A very useful seventh wicket partnership saw the visitors recover as Logan Nicey and Duncan Dingley each took a wicket and Tyson McCallum a stumping and a catch. Liam Chang bowled well without luck.

The 1st XI put themselves under pressure in the run chase with a poor start with the bat that resulted in the first 4 wickets being lost for 23. Stuart Dingley and Laurence Sheehan led a strong recovery and Chang’s continuation of his good from with the bat put the home side within reach of the total. Sheehan was the last to be dismissed after a fighting knock. However, full credit must go to the Bathurst team who were rewarded for their straight and consistent bowling by the 20 run victory.

St Stanislaus’ College Bathurst 9-159 (Laurence Sheehan 3-9 off 7 overs, James Power 3-24 off 10 overs, Liam Kinna 1-29 off 10 overs, Duncan Dingley 1-37, Logan Nicey 1-17) defeated 1st XI 10/149 (Laurence Sheehan 49, Liam Chang 44, Stuart Dingley 30)

NSTA Tennis

The cooler weather was a welcome change on the courts last weekend, however the wind caused a few issues but I guess we can’t get everything we want. The 8am games went smoothly with SPX 22 and SPX 20 continuing their winning streaks. It was also great to see SPX 25 secure their first win, it was an exciting win for Nicholas Kwan and Will Scaiff. So much determination was shown by Aiden Seifert in his singles, winning 6-0, which helped to solidify the overall win for SPX 11. Thank you to: Luca D’Alessandro, Michael Whitehead, Jared Lam and Richard Gauci for mentoring and umpiring the green ball matches.

It was another quiet 10am session with only 5 games being played at Talus St. Anton Langreiter and Nathan Constantino (SPX 2) played 2 great singles winning 6-5 and 6-4 respectively, which ultimately gave then the win. Max Leo and Jayden Chan (SPX 4) again won all 3 sets: 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

Next week will be the 5th round of the competition before the finals and play-offs on November 23 in which all players will be involved.
