Prayer: Feast Day of St Pius X
Wednesday 21 August is the Feast Day of St Pius X. We give thanks for the life of Guiseppe Sarto who became Pope Pius X and was canonised to become St Pius X. During his papacy, it was Pope Pius X who gave children from the age of seven (7) access to the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Saint Pius X stands as a worthy patron challenging us to blend Faith, learning and culture, for the College to produce young men who respect themselves and others.
Father,
to defend the Catholic faith
and to make all things new in Christ,
You filled St. Pius X
with heavenly wisdom and apostolic courage.
May his example and teaching
lead us to the reward of eternal life.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
St Pius X Pray for Us
Amen.
P&F Trivia Night
This year’s Trivia Night was “Absolutely Fabulous’! It was truly a smash hit. We all enjoyed great fun and wonderful company. I thank the many parents and friends who came.
A full report and a large selection of photos can be found on the P&F page of this newsletter, but there are a number of special thanks I wish to offer:
- Mrs Louise Johnston, Mrs Cathy Thomson and the P&F Organising Committee. Names of all those who contributed to this wonderful night can be found on the P&F Page.
- Our many generous sponsors who donated prizes for the evening including Bowerhaus Jewellers who were again most generous.
- The St Pius X College Senior Jazz Band (aka The SPX Blues Brothers Band) led by Mr Jeff Power.
- The many staff who came along. There were 3 staff tables and others who joined the various parent tables.
THE WINNERS! Congratulations to all. However, the top trivia teams were:
1st: The Brilliant Bogans – 85 points
Equal 2nd: One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure – 83 points
Hollywood Meets Bollywood – 83 points
4th: The Greenies – 81 points
The full score sheet can be found below.
BEST DRESSED: This was the most coveted award of all and it went by public acclamation to “Cleudo” (pictured).
HOW MUCH DID WE RAISE? The final amount will be reported at next Monday’s P& F Meeting on 26 August.
