Congratulations to Cooper Alan (Year 11) who has been selected in the Australian Gridiron team to play in the Oceanic Region World Championship Qualifying Tournament in July.

Football

Dear Parents and Players,

Congratulations to all teams on improving results.  It was great to see some teams including the 1st XI move into the winner's circle.  Teams of the week go to the 3rd, 4th, 13C and 13D teams who all play in the same competition and had an internal fixture on the weekend with all games played in the right spirit.  Well done!

This weekend sees most teams playing against arch rival St Patrick’s College Strathfield.  There is a variety of both home and away fixtures so please check your times and venues carefully.

Fields can be found at the following locations:

  • Walsh and Watkins: 1 Dreadnought Rd, Oxford Falls
  • Mason Park:  Underwood Road, Homebush
  • Bark Huts:  Elliot Street, Belfield
  • BC Oval: Old Northern Road, Castle Hill
  • Chifley Playing Field:  801-899R Bunnerong Road, Chifley

Good luck to all teams.

Mr S Yue - Senior Football Convenor

FROM THE RUGBY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Despite the long journey to Bathurst on Saturday all our teams played with great enthusiasm. Our unbeaten Opens sides continued on their merry way, with the Firsts locked in a dramatic 12-all draw which went right down to the wire and then … a bit more.

The 16As were very competitive in a tough encounter. The 15As survived a real test of character against a very committed Stannies side who had obviously taken note of our quality and showed true resilience and good technique to come away with a strong performance and satisfying win.  The 15Bs win playing Away at St Pat’s augurs well for this week’s visit of St Pat's to Oxford falls.

14As and Bs both had competitive losses with the Bs playing Away at BMGS.

13As had a hard fought game against bigger and stronger opponents but played with real SPX spirit. Good technique at the tackle contest ensured they had a fair share of possession and this will serve them well in the weeks ahead.

13Bs are our “Team of the Week”.  Wow!  Did they play some terrific support-based rugby and in Carlo Berarducci have the best tackler in the competition!! His double in the second half left Mr Rodgers and I speechless! Needless to say the opposition were left scoreless.

All in all a successful day out with over 50% success.

This week we take on St Pat’s at Oxford Falls. No motivation needed for this one.

ISA Tennis

A great day of tennis was had by all in our Round 3 matches. Divisions 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 all came away with convincing wins, barely letting the opposition teams get away with any games. Division 2 fought hard, resulting in a tie, right down to the sets as well as games. Our First Five played impressive tennis but just missed out on a win against a formidable Redlands team.

This weekend our teams will be playing against St Andrews College, Oakhill or Oxley College. See the draw details below.

  • Uniform: White shorts, school sports shirt, school tennis cap and school tracksuit (if cold). You may also want to bring sunscreen and a bottle of water
  • Home games: Please note if playing at HOME, students are required to bring a small plate of morning tea to share with all players.
  • Absences for Games/Training: If a student is absent from school on Friday prior to a round then it is expected that a parent/carer will telephone the school (9411 4733) prior to 8:30am and leave a message for Ms O’Brien as to whether the student will be available to play on Saturday. This provides time for the Convenor to organise a reserve player for the team.  If the absence is last minute on Saturday morning then the student must arrange a substitute player from their team if they are unable to play. Please SMS or call 0409 916 859 by 7.00am to give name of substitute player or inform the Convenor if you are unable to find a substitute player. Students are to provide written documentation for all absences.
